Port of Palm Beach Breaks Record for Total Tonnage in One Day

Ship docking at port

On Thursday, March 14th there were 15 ships docked at Port of Palm Beach. We achieved a total tonnage of 137,765 gross registered tons (GRT), surpassing the last record 119,139 tons set in November 2012.

On that historic day, we also had the longest cargo ship we've had in Port in 30 years. The length overall of the cement cargo ship was 644 feet.

On a busy day, the Port of Palm Beach relies on E.N. Bisso & Son, Inc. tractor tugboat Vigilant to safely dock large cargo vessels side by side. Some of the benefits of a tractor tug include precision maneuverability, enhanced safety and increased efficiency.
