Ozinga Opens Cement Terminal

On Thursday, July 27 Ozinga celebrated the official opening of its cement terminal at the Port of Palm Beach. This cement terminal includes a one-of-a-kind cement storage facility designed in a cooperative effort with the Port of Palm Beach and the City of Riviera Beach to enhance the visual landscape of the area and complement the marine environment.

“This cutting-edge cement terminal represents a new chapter in our community’s growth and development,” said Port of Palm Beach Board Chairwoman Dr. Jean L. Enright during the ceremony. “The Port of Palm Beach has long been a hub of commerce and trade, and this cement terminal amplifies its significance. With this facility, we not only enhance our region’s infrastructure, but also create new opportunities for economic prosperity.”

Dr. Enright provided the Ozinga family with a ceremonial plaque at the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially welcoming the company to the Port of Palm Beach.

Tropical Shipping Celebrates 60 Years

In 1963, Tropical Shipping did what had never been done before – it committed to a set and dependable sailing schedule to the Bahamas. Many thought they couldn’t do it, but they followed through, and 60 years ago the Tropic Ace made its maiden voyage to Freeport, Grand Bahamas.

Tropical Shipping now serves more than 30 locations from Canada to the Caribbean and South America. The company has invested in new equipment and larger, faster, and cleaner-fueled vessels to improve its service. It’s part their commitment to the region.

The company celebrated the milestone by hosting a luncheon for its employees. Port of Palm Beach District Board Chairwoman Dr. Jean L. Enright, Port Commissioner Dr. Deandre Poole and members of senior staff attended the event held Wednesday, August 2nd.

Giving Back to local teachers

 With the overwhelming support of our amazing Port tenants Emerge Cargo Solutions, SSI Petroleum, CEMEX, Heavy Lift Services, Inc., Margaritaville at Sea and business partner Florida Crystals Corporation, we collected more than $3,500 worth of school supplies for City of Riviera Beach elementary schools.

Port staff and members of our Port Family, Heavy Lift Services VP, Tina Dias, CEMEX Terminal Manager Matt Horne and RJ and Lisa Black with Emerge Cargo Solutions had the privilege of delivering donated school supplies to the five Riviera Beach elementary schools; Washington, Lincoln, Grove Park, West Riviera and Dr. Mary McLeod.

The appreciation from the principals and staff was heartwarming and we are grateful for the dedicated teachers and administrators who are shaping the future of our younger generations.
