Gary Dunmyer, PE, MBA, CGC (Certified General Contractor), joined the Port of Palm Beach in November 2024 as the Port Engineer, bringing over 30 years of professional civil engineering expertise. He began his career in Palm Beach County as a private consulting engineer, leading the design of major residential developments, several Fortune 500 big-box retail projects, and numerous municipal infrastructure initiatives.
Dunmyer also served the community through his work with the South Florida Water Management District, where he developed and managed a $70 million Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program and established standardization teams to improve operational efficiency.
His project and construction management experience includes high-profile projects such as the Brentwood Shopping Center in California and the Boynton Beach Sara Sims Park rehabilitation project, where he served as both designer and general contractor. Over the last two decades, Dunmyer has served as a municipal engineer, overseeing the City of Boynton Beach’s $40 million, five-year Capital Improvement Program, creating a citywide road evaluation program, and implementing a $2 million annual road rehabilitation initiative. He also served as Boynton Beach’s Interim Public Works Director.
Dunmyer brings to the Port a strong commitment to strategic infrastructure planning, development, and maintenance, grounded in his extensive experience and dedication to community improvement.
