Palm Beach Harbor Pilot Captain Gregory Turner is retiring after spending 37 years navigating vessels through the Lake Worth Inlet. He began his career serving 18 months on a North Sea oil rig supply vessel. He later dedicated six years of his life on oil tankers and three years on freighters. He soon realized ship handling and piloting was his next professional step. His experience leaned from transiting more than 40 ports worldwide, landed him at the Port of Palm Beach. He joined the Palm Beach Harbor Pilot Association in August 1983. To date, he's successfully navigated more than 18,000 ship transits. "It's been a privilege working with all the licensed maritime professionals at the Port. The next maritime adventure awaits," Capt. Turner said. The Port of Palm Beach and its tenants thank Capt.
