Port of Palm Beach Stevedore Port Contractors to Handle New Service to/from Freeport

On Tuesday, January 19, 2015, Port of Palm Beach stevedore and agent Port Contractors received the Maritime Vessel Emprendeora on her first call to load cargo bound for Freeport, Bahamas. The 254-foot vessel, which will be home ported at Port of Palm Beach, will transport up to 44 TEUs of containerized and breakbulk cargo, including automobile, heavy equipment and maritime vessel to Port of Freeport three times weekly.

Port Contractors has been a Port of Palm Beach tenant for 8 years. Established in 1984 as Port Contractors Inc, after nearly a decade of stevedoring operations at Port of Wilmington, the company organized and grew, acquiring land around the port, and developing a focus on handling bulk cargoes. After facilitating the growth of Port of Wilmington’s bulk, breakbulk and project cargo handling capabilities through the acquisition and development of land, rail sidings and warehouses adjacent to the port. Beginning in 2000, PCI expanded to new ports and markets along the East and Gulf Coasts. Since 2008, Port Contractors has provided cruise, project cargo and yacht services at Port of Palm Beach.
