Palm Beach County's Peanut Island Environmental Enhancement Project

Restorations, environmental enhancements, and new recreational amenities will make Peanut Island the premiere boating destination on Florida's east coast. Palm Beach County residents, visitors, fish, wildlife, and the Lake Worth Lagoon will all benefit. The Port of Palm Beach, US Army Corps of Engineers, Florida Inland Navigational District worked with the county's environmental resources management and parks & recreations departments to turn an island mostly made up of dredged material into a feature attraction. More information about this project can be found at www.pbcgov.com/parks.

Port of Palm Beach Commissioner and Vice Chairman George Mastics spoke at the dedication on behalf of the port. Staff attendees included Executive Director Lori Baer and Deputy Director Kathy Andress.
