Underscoring the vital role U.S. seaports play in homeland security, the Port of Palm Beach hosted Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., on Tuesday (June 1, 2004) as the presidential hopeful unveiled his plan to reduce the threat of nuclear terrorism. Richard A. Wainio, executive director of the Port of Palm Beach, welcomed a gathering of more than 300 people, including numerous local, state and national officials. Wainio welcomed Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., to introduce Kerry.
